Vermischtes vom 5. November 2015

Das medienkritische BILDblog widerspricht aktuell einer Zahl, die in der Flüchtlingsdebatte immer wieder genannt wird:

Viele "besorgte" Bürger und Medien stellen insbesondere die jungen, allein reisenden Männer unter den Flüchtlingen als Gefahr dar. Behauptungen wie die von Fleischhauer und Palmer erleichtern ihnen die Panikmache, denn wenn sogar die Gutmenschenmedien 70 Prozent Eckensteher-Flüchtlinge ausmachen, ist die endgültige Schändung des Abendlandes ja praktisch nicht mehr aufzuhalten.

Den Hetzern kommt dabei auch zugute, dass durch die Betonung des (falschen) "junge Männer"-Anteils ein anderer Ausschnitt der (tatsächlichen) Migrationswirklichkeit verzerrt wird: der Anteil der Kinder.

Fleischhauers Befürchtungen vor einer "Maskulinisierung" unserer Gesellschaft könnte vielleicht auch eine aktuelle Studie mildern, über die Psychology Today berichtet:

When males are abundant (...), they are especially eager to put considerable effort into finding a mate and settling down; marriage rates go up and crime rates go down. Conventional wisdom would have us believe all that testosterone on the loose would lead to mayhem, including lots of promiscuity and maybe rampant violence — you know, rape, pillage, and plunder.

Not so.

It’s when males are in short supply that men turn promiscuous and spawn babies out of wedlock, and male violence rages: Male-male homicide rates go up; so do sexual assault rates. Men muster little energy for finding a mate and, preferring casual sex, happily engage in multiple relationships, University of Utah anthropologist Ryan Schacht reports in a recent issue of Royal Society Open Science.

Die rapide schrumpfende Zahl von Männern an Universitäten könnte also tatsächlich zu einem Problem führen – ein Problem, das man aber unterbinden kann, wenn man Jungen und Männer so wie Mädchen und Frauen zu fördern beginnt.

Das Deutschlandradio berichtet über fehlende Väter als eine Ursache für den Extremismus von Jugendlichen.

Die IT-World greift einen Bericht des Blogs Breitbart auf, dem zufolge Feministinnen versuchen, männlichen Software-Entwicklern wie Linus Torvald gezielt sexuelle Übergriffe anzuhängen. Auch Hadmut Danisch widmet sich diesem Thema.

Einige Feministinnen versuchen, mit dem Twitter-Hashtag #ILoveMenButHatePatriarchy sympathischer oder zumindest weniger irre zu erscheinen. Die Resonanz darauf ist eine volle Ladung Männerhass aus der feministischen Gemeinde. Die prominenten Feministinnen schweigen – schließlich sind sie ja auch in einem Zwiespalt: Sie möchten weder nach außen hin als Männerhasserinnen erscheinen, noch die Unterstützung ihrer Gefolgsleute verlieren.

Nach dem Youtube-Video gestern von Cassie Jaye setzt sich Janet Bloomfield etwas näher mit der Frauenfeindlichkeit David Futrelles auseinander:

Find an attack on me, on Paul Elam, on any of the men’s rights activists, including Dr. Warren Farrell, whose advocacy for men and boys can be traced back to when feminists actually cared about all the human beings, that doesn’t use Futrelle as a source. Futrelle is pretty much the only source feminists use when attacking people who think men and boys should receive the same care and compassion as women and girls. Scratch the surface of Futrelle, and you find precisely what he claims to rail so heartily against: a misogynist.

When it comes right down to it, feminists and their supporters, hate women. They will publicly support, fawn over and cash up women who claim the mantle of damsel: if you agree to be a helpless, hopeless, hapless female, the feminists will support you. If you dare to be a woman who is a person, first and foremost, who rejects the claim that an ideology will determine how you think, act and feel, you will be attacked and scorned without mercy.

How dare you think for yourself?

Warum erinnert mich das an die Attacken Heiner Geißlers gegen Monika Ebeling in den letzten Minuten dieser Sendung? Die vermeintlichen Frauenbeschützer sind oft die schlimmsten Frauenfeinde von allen.

Die Publizistin Rachel Edwards beschäftigt sich mit der Problematik von Safe Spaces in ihrem Beitrag Trigger Warnings: Or how to create a generation of assholes without really trying. Ein Auszug:

People are censoring media and spaces to cater to the easily offended, and not those who suffer from PTSD or panic disorders. I have had panic attacks, and I can tell you that the only thing that stops it is a desire within yourself to survive and pull yourself together.

(...) There is an obsession with destroying and defeating that which is offensive. Instead of admitting that it’s probably a bad idea to let untreated people with mental health issues wander around a school campus, we’d rather put trigger warnings in the works of Ovid.

(...) The world is hostile. The world is not a therapeutic environment where we all form a circle and hug, before distributing cookies and punch. However it is something that must be endured, because that is the way life is. If people never have to endure anything harsh or cruel, then they end up without a real sense of empathy. They become self-centered assholes that walk around as if they are bulletproof.

But we have people in our world like that and they don’t know they’re assholes. We don’t know they’re assholes, because to everyone else they look like victims that must be protected. Often people can’t tell the difference between those who’ve been coddled all their lives and those who’ve been seriously victimized. Maybe they are even some weird combination of the two. But if there is any way of telling, it’s this. The spoiled coddled ones will never let you forget about that time someone hurt them. They will even go so far as to use it to get fame and fortune. They will ride that victimhood as far as it will take them, no matter who it hurts.

(...) We got here by separating people in the first world from hardship, in a valiant effort to protect them. So now the moment that any of them feel a sense of discomfort, they will claim victimhood and never have to own anything. They will not feel that they should adapt to the world, but that the world must adapt to them. We’re in Hell.

Auch die deutsche Journalistin Karo Jankowski ist genervt vom Feminismus.

Wenn Männer sich in öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln bequem hinsetzen, wird das von Feministinnen als "Manspreading" angefeindet. Jetzt hat dieses Lager eine neue Körperhaltung entdeckt, in die sich Männer nicht begeben dürfen: Pole-Hogging. Bitte nicht verharmlosen, es handelt sich um eine "Epidemie".

Eine US-amerikanische Studentin erhält als Arbeitsaufgabe, einen Essay über das Matratzenmädel Emma Sulkowicz zu schreiben:

"What do you think of her approach in responding to her case of rape?" (notice the absence of "alleged")

Das entstandene Essay ist vernichtend für Sulkowicz. Mehr darüber verrät der Washington Examiner - und berichtet auch über die Motivation der Studentin:

The student told the Washington Examiner that the reason she doesn't adhere to the popular narrative surrounding campus sexual assault is that a close friend of hers was falsely accused and expelled.

"Seeing how much it negatively impacted his life in all aspects, from crushing his trust and faith in women to robbing him of the education he spent 18 years working for to the financial burden it has become on he and his family, I've seen the physical and emotional consequences of discrimination and the breach of constitutional rights on a human," she wrote in an email.

She wrote that she has seen false accusations rise across the country, and that it was becoming "increasingly apparent" that she needed to "defend the rights of men in our nation when their voices on this issue aren't taken seriously by the rest of society."

Manchmal findet man im Internet Texte, bei denen man denkt "Das wollte ich bei passender Gelegenheit genau so schon lange einmal sagen". Diesmal ist mir die ehemalige Frauenministerin Kristina Schröder zuvorgekommen:

Kein ernstzunehmender Wissenschaftler der Gendertheorie behaupte, dass die Biologie keinerlei Einfluss habe, heißt es gerade in letzter Zeit. Das freut mich. Was ich lese und beobachte, ist allerdings eine nicht enden wollende Abwehrschlacht: Es ist immer die böse Gesellschaft, es sind immer strukturelle Diskriminierungen, es sind immer veraltete Rollenbilder, mit denen Ungleichheiten erklärt werden. Dass auch der freie Wille von Frauen und Männern mal wirklich entscheidend sein könnte, das finde ich in Texten der Gendertheorie fast nie. Geschweige denn den ernsthaften Versuch, die eigenen Grundannahmen zu falsifizieren. Vielleicht lese ich zu selektiv – ich freue mich über entsprechende Gegenbeispiele!

Zuletzt wieder mal ein Blick nach Indien: Dort geben Männer am 19. November ihre Heiratsurkunden zurück, um ein Bewusstsein für Männerrechte zu schaffen.
