Phillipinen: Senatorin lehnt Gesetz ab, das Männer vor häuslicher Gewalt schützen soll

Und wieder mal ein Beitrag aus der Reihe "Unser Kampf ist international":

There is no need for a law providing protection to male victims of domestic abuse, Senator Pia Cayetano said Tuesday.

In an interview, Cayetano said men, both in local and international fields, are not considered part of the vulnerable or marginalized sector like women, children, elderly and persons with disabilities.

"Hindi na [kailangan ng batas]. Maybe a hundred years from now, two hundred years from now pag-umiba [na ang panahon magagawa ito]. I’m not kidding," she said.

Cayetano was reacting to the appeal of a men’s rights group Diego Silang that current laws were insufficient to protect males who were abused by their wives or partners.

Cayetano pointed out that it's the "women, children, elderly and those with disabilities are the ones who are defenseless."

"Pag sinabi mo sa panahon sa giyera ang pinaka-vulnerable ay ang mga kababaihan dahil nagagahasa, ang mga bata dahil nawawalan ng magulang, ang matatanda who can’t defend themselves," she said.
